Commercial Vehicle Production and Sales Briefing for May 2024

According to the analysis by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, in May 2024, among the main varieties of commercial vehicles, both bus and truck production and sales showed varying degrees of decline compared to the previous month. However, compared to the same period last year, bus production and sales saw double-digit growth, while truck production decreased and sales increased.

📊 In May 2024, the production and sales of commercial vehicles were completed at 321,000 and 341,000 units, respectively, with a month-on-month decrease of 10.1% and 4.5%, a year-on-year decrease of 0.2% in production, and a year-on-year increase of 3.3% in sales.

Commercial Vehicle Production and Sales from January to May 2024

From January to May 2024, the production and sales of commercial vehicles were completed at 1.675 million and 1.731 million units, respectively, with a year-on-year increase of 3.1% and 7.1%.

Passenger Car Sales by Model

🚌 In May 2024, the production and sales of passenger cars were completed at 42,000 and 43,000 units, respectively, with a month-on-month decrease of 6.8% and 4.8%, and a year-on-year increase of 14.3% and 16%. Compared with the same period last year, the production and sales of large and light passenger cars both showed double-digit growth, while the production of medium-sized passenger cars decreased and sales increased.

Truck Sales by Model

🚚 In May 2024, the production and sales of trucks were completed at 279,000 and 299,000 units, respectively, with a month-on-month decrease of 10.6% and 4.4%, a year-on-year decrease of 2% in production, and a year-on-year increase of 1.7% in sales. Compared with the same period last year, the production and sales of medium and light trucks showed varying degrees of growth, while the production of heavy trucks slightly decreased and sales slightly increased, and the production and sales of mini trucks decreased by double digits.

Truck Production and Sales from January to May 2024

From January to May 2024, the production and sales of trucks were completed at 1.474 million and 1.53 million units, respectively, with a year-on-year increase of 2% and 6.2%. Compared with the same period last year, the production of light trucks slightly decreased, and sales slightly increased, while the production and sales of other three types of trucks showed varying degrees of growth, with medium-sized trucks showing a more significant increase.
